Sex Pistols ft. Frank Carter, Panic Shack

When England’s (arguably) most influential punk band the Sex Pistols played San Antonio’s Randy’s Rodeo on January 8, 1978, virtually every first-generation Austin punk scene denizen was in attendance, with bands forming in Austin-bound cars afterward. And while they spent the day before decompressing in Austin, they have never played here. Until now. The Pistols taking the Emo’s stage are not the original lineup with John “Johnny Rotten” Lydon fronting, but Gallows/Rattlesnakes singer Frank Carter honoring all the classic songs with original members Steve Jones, Glen Matlock, and Paul Cook. Panic Shack, a Cardiff, Wales-based indie/punk quintet, opens. – Tim Stegall
