Scott Robinson & Friends

Pi Recordings
Though best-known as a tenor saxophonist, player/composer Scott Robinson happily adds trumpet, flute, clarinet, and less familiar instruments like the sarrusophone, the contrabass saxophone, and the ophicleide to his blowing arsenal. All the better to liven up the nearly 300 albums and countless concerts he’s played since the early Eighties, sharing space with everyone from Lionel Hampton, Chet Baker, and Paquito D’Rivera to David Bowie, They Might Be Giants, and the NYC Opera. Here he’ll join an all-star local band of trumpeter Mike Sailors, pianist Ross Margitza, bassist Ryan Hagler, and drummer Daniel Dufour for four shows over two nights. – Michael Toland
