Sapphic Summer, curated by Sydney Dettmar, is a group exhibition inspired by Sappho of Lesbos- the Ancient Greek poet whose verses on love and desire between women inspired the word sapphic itself. The exhibition showcases 20+ local artists whose work continues a tradition of unapologetically queer self-expression.
On view at Bolm Arts from August 7 through September 5. The opening reception is on Friday, August 7, from 7:00–11:00 p.m.
A Sapphic Songwriters Showcase will begin at 8:30pm, featuring sets from Syd Lizmar, Allie Ingle, BROTHER, and Gwen Best.
