Ruth Lauer’s vibrant paintings capture the playfulness and shared rituals of summers spent at Austin’s community swimming pools. Her work evokes shimmering, sunlit moments that feel suspended in time. With a keen eye for color and composition, she depicts the shifting hues of water and the joyful chaos of public spaces.
In the artist’s words, "I create portraits of people, food or animals, but also of private moments in public settings. I try to portray the emotion that a memory holds, and the calm of commonplace beauty.”
Opening reception: Saturday, April 25, 5-7pm
Artist talk: Sunday, May 3, 2pm
