Record Store Day

We’ve been waxing nostalgic for awhile over here, especially as the world burns and turns increasingly toward digital solutions for analog problems. With Record Store Day, we’ve got ample opportunities to pick up nostalgic wax. Dozens of independent record shops in Central Texas are participating this year, offering special releases and promos just for RSD, but be warned: If you’re looking for something specific, it’s a good idea to reach out ahead of time. For local flavor, look for the reissue of 13th Floor Elevators’ 60-year-old “live” record without the annoying crowd noise added, or homegrown heavy metallers the Sword’s Three Songs, a first pressing of what they’d peddle at shows around town on CD-R way back in 2005. Keep an eye out for more details as RSD approaches, and get the full list of special releases at recordstoreday.com. – Kat McNevins
