Festival, Texas, runs year-round, but not all gatherings are created equal. Free, all ages, and now in its 11th year locally, Rancho Alegre Conjunto Festival serves the least mainstream of the Big Three Texas root musics: blues, country, conjunto. Like HONK!TX every spring, summer’s Rancho Alegre previously hosted our capital city across three venues – we played pool at Stubb’s! – so a move to Doris Miller Auditorium aligns perfectly with this dance party. Friday, 7-10pm, then Saturday, noon-10pm, and finally Sunday, noon-6pm, stacks two dozen squeeze-box hypnotics from Austin to Alice, Brownsville to Kingsville, and Temple to Waxahachie. Eva Ybarra, Susan Torres, luchadores Los Enmascarado: Kick out the polkas, mofos. –
