Abandon Hope, all y’all who enter here!
Get ready for a deep cut of Austin indie horror history as Scary Movie (1991) rises from the crypt to haunt We Luv Video! This atmospheric cult oddity features future Academy Award nominee John Hawkes (Winter’s Bone) caught in a Halloween night swarming with psycho killers, Woof Woof dolls, and twisted nightmares come to life. Long celebrated by horror fans for its surreal tone and scrappy inventiveness, the film endures as a one-of-a-kind snapshot of Austin’s underground cinema scene at the dawn of the ’90s.
The evening also includes a live Q&A.
