In years past, Preservation Austin has led the charge to maintain key local sites like the Driskill Hotel, Laguna Gloria, and the Broken Spoke. Yet the nonprofit isn’t solely interested in celebrating the city’s most famous institutions. Since 1993, the Homes Tour has spotlighted houses across town – all historic, but not necessarily tied to a grand, well-known history. This year’s circuit showcases 10 distinct, lived-in homes, situated from Northwest Austin to Montopolis, that don’t just juxtapose the high-rises, but remind us of the rich cultural traditions this essential organization is protecting.
