"Poddy Rules The World! Gilbert Shelton's Underground Comix & Art" is a major retrospective celebrating Gilbert Shelton's influential role in the underground comix movement of the 1960s and 1970s and highlighting Shelton's deep connection to Austin's cultural history.
Hosted by the Austin Museum of Popular Culture, the exhibit includes original comix and panels from many of Shelton's most beloved creations (the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers, Wonder Wart-Hog, Oat Willie), concert posters, illustrations, short films, and the original Vulcan Gas Company sign (designed and painted by Shelton). Sunday's will feature music and panel discussions on a particular aspect of Shelton's work.
