Pigeon Pit, June Henry, Bad Luck Penny, Fire Ant Season [control room]
When: Tue., Dec. 2, 8 p.m. 2025
Olympian solo project-turned-sixpiece Pigeon Pit has run their pockets and left it all in the studio this year, now basking in this month’s release Leash Aggression, the band’s second album in 10 months. They offer a case for coming-of-age musical mumblecore. Lomes Oleander’s folk-punk tunes feel more like teenage parked-car confessionals, with angsty lyricism typically taking the wheel over acoustic strings and pedal steel passengers. And the speed at which they’ve cranked out these projects only fuels that impression of itching to express themselves, eager to perform. – Flora Belle Farr
