While I never thought I’d live through the proper era to write about a jam band, Phish, the rock group from Burlington, Vt., is back in Austin for the first time in eight years. Phish has been improvising throughout their live shows – and more than 15 albums – since 1983, featuring too-long guitar solos, too-long sets, but not-too-long a tour run to show for it. This weekend’s shows at Moody probably won’t look too different, just as any real “phan” expects and hopes for. – Levi Langley
