I’m not sure who L.B. Deyo embodies more: the straightforward truth telling of Edward R. Murrow, or fantastical future teller Rod Serling. Zahir Productions founder and playwright of Oversight, Deyo fits nicely along both media legends. His work updates political fears, taking the tension of national policy and adding in a healthy dose of dire warnings. Oversight deals with everyone’s favorite technological terror – the unfettered expansion of artificial intelligence. That’s right, we’ve got a good ol’ anti-AI tale, and I am here for it. Seated, as it were, just like the members of the Oversight Committee’s closed session, as they deliberate over profits vs. the fate of the world. Tense, bleak, and thrilling, it’s a premium theatrical bottle episode. – Cat McCarrey
