Old No. 1 at 50 (Guy Clark tribute) w/ Sam Baker, Rosie Flores, Verlon Thompson, more
When: Fri., Oct. 24, 8 p.m. 2025
By the time Guy Clark released his debut album, Old No. 1, in 1975, his reputation as a songwriter was already well established thanks to popular covers of his songs, including “L.A. Freeway,” “Desperados Waiting for a Train,” and “Texas 1947.” And although the late Texan never achieved the notoriety of his outlaw contemporaries, Old No. 1 remains one of country music’s most influential LPs. For its 50th anniversary, Clark’s longtime creative partner Verlon Thompson gathers acolytes to fete the seminal album, with Sam Baker, Rosie Flores, Waylon Payne, Jack Barksdale, Graham Weber, Bukka Allen, and more. – Doug Freeman
