Who says the remake can never be better than the original? The first Ocean’s 11 is barely a movie, a hokey heist flick filmed in Las Vegas so its Rat Pack stars could still fulfill their casino gigs at night. Steven Soderbergh’s 2001 reboot was renamed Ocean’s Eleven to avoid confusion but was just as star-studded, with an ensemble cast that would make any director jealous. Yet even Brad Pitt’s constant eating (an attention-stealing trick he purloined from Steve McQueen) can’t overshadow the reunion of Soderbergh and his Out of Sight star, George Clooney, whose star power flows brighter than the Las Vegas sign. – Richard Whittaker
