One of the great privileges of having a cinema built by a hometown hero is that whenever he drops a new film, Austin gets the perks of a Hollywood or New York film audience. At this screening of Richard Linklater’s new French New Wave tribute, the cast will be in attendance, and Austin gets to eat first before it opens in theatres everywhere on Halloween. Linklater borrows the style of Jean-Luc Godard to tell the story of his making Breathless, casting Zoey Deutch as Jean Seberg. François Truffaut, Eric Rohmer, and a host of other Film 101 big names are lovingly portrayed in this true “love letter to cinema.” Tix to the in-person Q&A have sold out, but you can still secure a spot in theatre two where the Q&A will be livestreamed. – Lina Fisher
