Not in the Face was an accidental breakout. Fifteen years ago, Jonathan Terrell and Wes Cargal felt the need to rock out, but magic happened when the duo began hitting local stages. Terrell’s feral frontman howl and onstage hyperglam sexuality maxed out to Cargal’s percussive grooves, and erupted in a party of vintage rock swinging backbeats. NitF only released one LP (2011’s Bikini), but “Downtown Girl” will forever be a summer sleaze banger. Eagle Claw’s metal dirge of new Ageless | Godmaker 10” and Golden Boy John Wesley Coleman’s Broken Hearts Club fill out the reunion bill. – Doug Freeman
