Telefone brought verbose rapper Noname’s sunshine-streaked, gospel-inflected hip-hop from her Chicago bedroom to speakers across the globe 10 years ago. The record’s sparse yet delightfully imaginative instrumentation and intimate lyrical depth influenced a generation of influence-blending artists and cemented Fatimah Warner as a cultural tastemaker, embodied in part by her Afrocentric book club.
