AFS is on a New York-in-the-Eighties nostalgia trip, between portraits of Andy Warhol’s Factory in I Shot Andy Warhol and now this, the first film by Philip Hartman, an OG Downtown boy and chronicler of, as Screen Slate puts it, “the low-rent bohemianism that was available to anyone who could score a tenement apartment with an exposed bathtub in its cramped kitchen back in the ’80s.” This one follows a jukebox operator as he searches the Lower East Side for a mysterious woman, with cameos by Steve Buscemi, Richard Hell, and Luis Guzmán. Hartman himself will be in attendance for a Q&A at the September 3 screening. – Lina Fisher
