Ten years ago, this Latine-led org platformed the work of femme filmmakers from the U.S.-Mexico border region of El Paso, Las Cruces, and Ciudad Juárez. Today their reach has expanded to reach borders the world over with women and gender-expansive cinema creators still at the forefront. AFS plays venue to their newest showcase of short films, which “challenge perceptions about women, border communities, immigrants, people of color, the LGBTQ+ community, and other underrepresented communities.” Stick around after the program for a special Q&A with co-director and FF showcase tour director Jackie Iyari Barragan. – James Scott
