An underrated charmer, this teen rom-com smartly takes its cue from the source YA novel (by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan) and doesn’t privilege the perspective of either titular he or she over the other. Strangers Nick (Michael Cera) and Norah (Kat Dennings) are both smart, a little damaged, and definitely not aces at picking a romantic partner, but that all changes when their paths cross on one crazy night as they chase their favorite band across New York. The leads are terrific, and so is the supporting cast and many 2008-cool cameos; Ari Graynor, playing Norah’s drunk bestie, gets best in show. – Kimberley Jones
