We all know of Richard Linklater’s love for Old French Cinema by now – man’s made a whole feature about the making of Breathless last year – but he’s also giving the new generation a try with a spotlight on up-and-coming French directors working today. Presented by AFS, the 400 Coups Cinema and Premiers Plans Festival of Angers, France (an Austin sister city), Villa Albertine, and Cultural Services of the French Embassy, this series brings the best contemporary film coming out of France to Texas. Opening night is Wild Foxes, a feature debut about a champion female boxer at a French boarding school with writer/director Valéry Carnoy in attendance, followed by a slate of comedies, dramas, romances, and 2026 Cannes prize winners through Sunday. – Lina Fisher
