In my house, growing up, we didn’t watch Christmas Vacation; we watched my Gramma Dolly watch Christmas Vacation, because there was just as much entertainment value in seeing an 80-year-old giggle herself silly at the Griswold family’s disastrous holidays. This 1989 classic isn’t exactly enlightened comedy – and hoo boy, have we learned some things about Chevy Chase and Randy Quaid in the intervening years – but it’s still pretty delightful.
