As Nineties rom-coms go, this one’s not the most problematic by a long shot, but it’s on that end of the spectrum. Good thing Julia Roberts’ 10,000-watt smile can save a weird plot wherein a 28-year-old feels she’s on the shelf, hag-wise, and threatens to sabotage the wedding of her best friend who is marrying a 20-year-old not yet out of college… and she’s the maid of honor. Stock sexy guy Dermot Mulroney is believable enough as the man Roberts would risk it all to steal away from sweet li’l Cameron Diaz, and everyone is just well-acted and charming enough (such as Roberts’ other best friend and voice of reason George, played by Rupert Everett) to eke this one into the rom-com hall of fame. But mostly come for Julia’s iconic red hair. – Lina Fisher
