Indie Meme presents this underseen 1985 British cult classic about a Pakistani immigrant family who owns a laundromat. Hanif Kureishi’s nuanced screenplay, which garnered BAFTA and Academy Award nominations, manages to tackle racial tension, class, family drama, and queer sexuality in 1980s London both poignantly and comedically.
