Mother's Day w/ Austin Symphonic Band [south steps]

Much as the politicians who work within it are often feckless worms, the actual Capitol grounds over on Congress Avenue are pretty beautiful, all things considered. Why, they’re perfect for you and Mom to enjoy a “melodic tribute to moms everywhere” from the city of Austin’s officially designated band (1989). Under the direction of Dr. Kyle Glaser, with assistant direction by Bill Haehnel, tunes from composers like John Philip Sousa, Luigi Denza, and Robert Sheldon will fill the Texas air while moms and their offspring celebrate. Plus, this concert’s totally free, which you can’t really say for that Mother’s Day brunch y’all presumably splurged on. – James Scott
