Good news for people who love Modest Mouse: If you’re missing their ACL Weekend One performance, you can still catch the turn-of-the-century alternative rock outfit before they “Float On.” Double-decade celebrations of the Pacific Northwest band’s breakout album and radio-staple early 2000s follow-ups have come and gone, but the ethos behind the certainly uncertain, loser-politic outlook captured in those records strikes a somehow nostalgic and relevant chord. Jangly guitars, atmospheric keys, and charmingly off-kilter crowd vocals continue to endear tobacco-stained, post-psychedelic crowds to the charismatically earnest performances of this to-be-timeless group. – Caroline Drew
