My personal introduction to longtime YA author Meg Cabot was her Princess Diaries series, which was a much spikier story than the later Disney adaptation. Today’s youth can get intro’d to the frequent of The New York Times bestseller list even earlier, though, with her new middle-grade novel featuring the log line of “Boss Baby meets The Baby-Sitters Club with a touch of Ocean’s Eleven.” Babysitter Jenny’s got a secret talent for talking to under-2-year-olds, and when she winds up with infant sleuth Rosie, decoding goos & gaas becomes essential after Jenny’s dance team money gets jacked. Cabot sits down with Austin indie bookstore behemoth BookPeople this week for baby talk and a booksigning. – James Scott
