The Scottish Play becomes the African Play: Actor Marc Pouhé, director Ann Ciccolella, and dramaturg Megha Pancholi reenvision the bard’s tale of bloody ambition for Austin Shakespeare as an Afrofuturist drama. Pouhé plays the loyal and lauded general who betrays his king and butchers former friends to grasp the throne. He’ll be matched by fellow Austin Shakespeare regular Helen Merino (Enemy of the People) as the equally ambitious Lady Macbeth. – Richard Whittaker
