What if Lotería moved beyond the usual iconography? What if hearts and suns and moons became intensely personal reflections of the Austin community? That’s exactly what photographer Minerva Villa, the genius behind Lens of Athena Photography (and our own recent yearbook images), crafted in MoHA’s newest collaborative exhibit. Local Latine artists became models and inspiration for a new Lotería set grounded in celebrating the folks behind Austin’s creative culture. Saturday’s opening celebration features a chance to meet the makers, hear their stories, and even play some cards. – Cat McCarrey
