This London MC is one of the world's greatest. Not one of the best women MCs. Not one of the best women artists. One of the greatest artists available in any genre, any sex. Her trio of indie releases – A Curious Tale of Trials + Persons (2015), Stillness in Wonderland (2016), and GREY Area (2019) – set the table, showcasing her elite wordsmithing. Stillness, particularly when blended with jazz, grime, and contemporary R&B, along with her personal and urbanized reimagining of Lewis Carroll's imagery, created compelling theatre. 2021's Sometimes I Might Be Introvert won the 2022 Mercury Prize as Britain's Album of the Year. – Kahron Spearman
