Texas is a neverending story, so much so that even our most talented exports can’t help but come back to roost in the complexity of this place. Acclaimed author and New Yorker staffer Lawrence Wright, who won a Pulitzer Prize for his postmortem of 9/11, The Looming Tower, now turns his sights to a group of contemplative nuns in Waco that began ministering to seven women on death row. A moving exploration of guilt vs. innocence, suffering, spirituality, and the carceral system follows. Another pillar of Texas journalism and storytelling, ProPublica and New York Times Magazine writer Pamela Colloff, moderates what is sure to be a thoughtful, wide-ranging conversation. – Lina Fisher
