Daniel Craig’s strange Southern drawl as Detective Benoit Blanc is the star of this series that updates the Agatha Christie-style whodunit for modern audiences. In this writer’s humble opinion, the sequels lost the thread, but the original was a romp for the ages, and an actually coherent class critique (unlike the proliferation of milquetoast Menu-core “eat-the-rich” mimicry). This one lampoons generational wealth with a genuine mystery wrapped up in a cozy cable knit sweater, perfect for the first chilly days of Austin autumn. Plus, you can’t go wrong with Toni Collette and Jamie Lee Curtis. – Lina Fisher
