Summer is the purr-fect time to adopt a kitty! Shelters become overcrowded in the summer because cats have more litters when days are warm and long. It’s also when most people move, and housing changes are a big reason why people have to surrender a pet. So if you have room in your heart and home, check out this family-friendly event at the library with cat crafts, adoptable purrboxes, and more feline fun with the Austin Animal Center, who’re touring the town in an effort to clear the shelter and get these fur friends matched with the right family. Adoption fees will be waived at this event, and all the kittens are fixed, vaccinated, and ready to make paw prints on your heart. – Kat McNevins
