Kate LeSueur: “Infrastructure”

Romanticizing your life can come from adding touches of whimsy, or it can come from slowing down and recognizing the existing beauty in your life. Kate LeSueur’s paintings live in the latter. Her work captures menial, everyday tasks in ways that shed a glowing light and magnifying gratitude on how lucky we are to exist. The sink full of food and flowers becomes an altar, a dedication to moments of abundance; the fuzzy blur of a napping cat becomes a guide to life, the joy of the moment; and the detritus of making sandwiches becomes a path to enlightenment. “Infrastructure” invites the viewer to witness these moments, to ponder their own, and to live in deep, deep gratitude. – Cat McCarrey
