John Mills Times Ten

In a post-James Polk era, where more and more young musicians pop up in town sporting chops veteran jazzers would envy, and touring acts (finally) become more common in our venues, it’s worth remembering that we still have the old-school treading the boards. Saxophonist John Mills has blown his horn for countless bands large and small, not just jazz, in Austin for decades. But he’s at his best leading his long-running medium-sized band Times Ten, who’ve been a staple of the Elephant Room since its beginning. Any chance to hear an ATX jazz eminence deserves to be taken. – Michael Toland
