James Andrew Smith and Owen Mann: “Floral”
As the new year continues to bloom, Wally Workman welcomes this double-bill exhibition focused around the floral arts. Tulsa-based artist James Andrew Smith creates pristine and vibrant bouquets in his oil-on-linen still life pieces – detailed enough to require a blink or two before their non-photographic nature registers. On the other hand is Owen Mann, whose porcelain flowers grow massive on the gallery walls in desaturated creams and browns that don’t re-create nature so much as preserve a concept of it. Both collections premiere this Saturday, Feb. 7, with plenty of room to grow until early March. – James Scott
