IT (2017)

Forty years ago, Stephen King’s 22nd book came out after he spent four cocaine-fueled years crafting it. His second-longest, it’s no wonder – he was trying to cover fear itself. A memorable TV miniseries followed closely after the book, but another few decades elapsed before the release of the first half of an expansive two-part feature film. A stellar cast of kids gave new life to the Losers Club (Finn Wolfhard, Jaeden Martell, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Chosen Jacobs, and Sophia Lillis) and Bill Skårsgard brought a distinctively eerie and unsettling interpretation to the role of Pennywise the clown. This special IMAX screening happens at the Bullock Museum but is part of Panic at the Paramount, which takes place at other locations while the Paramount undergoes renovations. – Kat McNevins
