Nostalgia for a time you’ve never experienced is so hot right now. So bring out your teens and let them drench themselves in pink and blue neon surreality via the fake Nineties show The Pink Opaque (a Buffy the Vampire Slayer-tinged teen drama) in Jane Schoenbrun’s I Saw the TV Glow. A mindbending tale of two kids whose lives go awry after Pink Opaque ends, I Saw the TV Glow is awash in music and melancholy. And did I mention mindbending? Because it dives deep into some nightmarish images, making the mundane truly terrifying. It’s also hands-down the best 2024 movie about the trans experience.
