As the Amorsima Trio, violinist Mia Detwiler, violist Mike Capone, and cellist Kourtney Newton’s goal is to push chamber music into directions more adventurous than the usual repertoire, seeking out new composers and music that doesn’t conform to strict classical norms. Stephan Arce-Penedo’s How Are You, 512? is a case in point, as the Panama-born, Austin-based composer’s work incorporates vintage video and audio and subtle electronics alongside the strings to pay tribute to 100-plus years of Austin history. Similarly themed pieces by Alan Mackwell, Missy Mazzoli, and others round out a program that doubles as a snapshot of 21st century concert music. – Michael Toland
