Harry Houdini’s connection to Austin didn’t end with the famous Houdini Hole in the ceiling of the Paramount. His massive personal library and archive has been housed at the HRC since 1958, and this special exhibition highlights treasures and curios that give an insight into the mind of the great illusionist and escapologist. Cline Curator of Theatre and Performing Arts Dr. Eric Colleary has gathered some of the most intriguing artifacts, from Houdini’s own first edition of Reginald Scot’s The Discoverie of Witchcraft to the travel diary of acting legend David Garrick. – Richard Whittaker
