Not one, not two, not three, but FOUR locations and days await for all you HONK-aphiles attending this year’s HONK!TX festival. The nonprofit fest wrangles together street and brass bands from all ova’ the U.S. to fill Bat City with toots, honks, and other onomatopoeia. They promise a wide gathering of genres, including New Orleans second-line brass, European Klezmer and Balkan, Brazilian, and West African. The grooves start with Thursday’s 6pm kickoff party at Inn Cahoots and continue through to Jackalope South Shore (Friday), Mueller Lake Park (Saturday), and Pan Am Park (Sunday). Each party’s all-ages except Friday’s Jackalope boogie, which is limited to brass buds 21 and older. – James Scott
