“Home Is Where the Art Is” Closing Reception

All good things eventually end, which is the case for this exhibition reviewed last week by Caroline Drew. The collaboratively curatorial effort between organizers Keyheira Keys and Mueni Loko Rudd brings Black artists Adrian Armstrong, Colby Deal, JaTaiRee Hudson Jr., Charles Louis Middleton III, and Isaac Rowry together for a multimedia showcase. Paintings, photographs, and sculpture art explore meanings of home beyond a roof over one’s head as well as “the lived geographies of Black cultural life in the American South.” Closing ceremonies happen this Thursday with a reception offering cuisine by Desire Catering’s Chef Martin as well as a post-show party by Front Row Functions over at Thompson Austin. Can’t make the farewell fete? Exhibition viewing hours remain open 2-6pm until August 2. – James Scott
