In 1986, Casa Marianella was one home on the Eastside providing emergency shelter for immigrants of all ages. Nearly four decades later, the nonprofit has expanded to include an adult shelter, two clusters of renovated homes for women and children escaping violence, and a family house. It’s still the only homeless shelter in Austin dedicated to immigrants and asylum seekers. Now in its second year, this Paramount benefit – featuring Americana darling Shakey Graves, psych-surf goofballs Being Dead, new folk pioneer Shawn Colvin, and more – allows the organization to offer its tenants legal aid, one of its many additional, essential services. – Carys Anderson
