History Surrounds is a free public event at Wooldridge Square combining Austin history, augmented reality, live music, oral histories, archival materials, and an old-fashioned picnic. Visitors can explore stories of historic Block 101 churches, the Woman Suffrage Movement, and Austin’s music and cultural history through interactive AR, 3D historical figures, digital reconstructions, and archival content. Live music reflects the project’s historical layers, featuring the Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church Choir, Christopher D. Spivey & Company Gospel Choir, Sarah Sharp Jazz Quintet, and Mostly Dead, plus a period-costumed National Sojourners Color Guard. Saturday, October 3, 10 a.m.–6 p.m.; free.
