Hilal Isler spins webs of tricky intimacies in her smart short story collection, Har Mar. A woman falls in love with her morning barista, two men find connection at the gym, and an older and younger woman temporarily share an identity. Across boundaries of culture, age, class, gender, and more, her lived-in characters navigate insecurities and desires, tapping into universal feelings beneath their specific experiences. Joined by fellow Austin author Amy Gentry (Good as Gone), Isler will read from, discuss, and sign copies of the new release at the Windsor Park Branch Library, in partnership with Alienated Majesty. – Caroline Drew
