Golden Hornet presents Horror de Cámara

Austin is blessed to have a few classical composition incubators, but Golden Hornet – founded by Graham Reynolds and Peter Stopschinski – is probably the best known. That’s because of events like this one. Part of the organization’s MXTX: Cross-Border Series, Horror de Cámara brings work from Mexican composers Jimena Contreras and Felipe Pérez Santiago alongside a piece of Reynolds’ score for Ballet Austin’s Poe. The result is chamber music more concerned with dread than beauty, with Mexican folk monsters and wartime terrors joining the tribute to America’s pioneering horror/mystery author. Craft and creepiness will surely abound. – Michael Toland
