Oscar-winner Godzilla Minus One is the best Godzilla movie in decades, and I will kaiju stomp anyone who says otherwise. Other recent rampaging lizard flicks – Matthew Broderick’s, Bryan Cranston’s, and even the lovefest between ’Zilla and King Kong – fail in two massive ways. No interesting human storyline, and not enough monster fights! Minus One rocks at both those points. The traumatized WWII vet in a postwar Japanese shantytown tugs at every heartstring. And the monster? What a BEAUT. Come to squeal in delight at rampaging monsters, stay to cry over the resilience of the human spirit.
