It may be surprising, but British iconoclast Geordie Greep has a special relationship with Austin. As related by the former Black Midi leader at SXSW this past March, their 2019 SX date at the Mohawk was their third and highest-profile gig stateside, and Greep holds a great deal of affection for the venue. He proved that then by tearing up the stage, something he’ll no doubt do again as he returns with his brain-melting mix of progressive rock and post-rock with sides of jazz fusion and Frank Sinatra, as heard on 2024’s still-relevant debut solo album The New Sound. – Michael Toland
