With Cotton Mather currently enjoying its retirement, local guitar pop auteur Robert Harrison returns to his other project. The long-dormant Future Clouds and Radar comfortably expands on Mather’s psychedelic power-pop with a revolving-door membership, a more expansive musical outlook, and Harrison’s usual stupendous songwriting. After a nearly 20-year hiatus, FC&R’s exceptionally good third album Big Weather was released digitally last year, but fell off the, um, radar fairly quickly. Now on vinyl with a record release show in support (and at Harrison’s old haunt the Hole in the Wall, no less), Big Weather gets a well-deserved second chance. – Michael Toland
