Frutos de la Muerte

Literally translated as “Fruits of Death,” this play from Glass Half Full explores what can arise from decay, drawing on mycology and curanderismo to tell the story of a young Guatemalan woman named Ixq’anil and her aunt Adela finding their way through a dark time. Movement and puppetry artists tell the tale that finds the pair exploring fungi, science, and Indigenous wisdom on their journey. This version draws on a variety of resources and builds on their work-in-progress showing at Crashbox last fall, and a mix of languages are spoken in the performance, but they took great care to ensure English-only speakers will understand. – Kat McNevins
